Dr. Alan W. White is the President and Chief Executive Officer, Alan White Associates, Inc. an international consulting and business development company based in the Washington, DC area. Prior to forming his own company Dr. White served as the Chief of Investigations for the United Nations Special Court for Sierra Leone from July 2002 to July 2005, Freetown, Sierra Leone. Dr. White’s efforts led to 13 indictments, including Charles Taylor, the former president of Liberia. Dr. White has traveled to 28 different countries conducting criminal investigations establishing high level government and law enforcement contacts, including various agencies within the United States, Europe, and Africa. Dr. White served as the Director, Investigative Operations, Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS), Headquarters, Arlington, Virginia from August 1998 to July 2002, after having been with DCIS for sixteen years. Dr. White’s other positions have included serving in the DCIS Western Field Office, Los Angeles, CA as the Special Agent in Charge; the Chicago Office as the Assistant Special Agent in Charge; as the Resident Agent in Charge of the Denver Office, Colorado, and as a staff officer at the DCIS Headquarters in Arlington, VA. Prior to transferring to DCIS, Dr. White was also a special agent with the U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI) where he held numerous positions. Dr. White retired from the U.S. Government as a member of the Senior Executive Service in August 2005 after 31 years of exemplary military and civilian service. |

He remarks on his experiences and demonstrate that even a corrupt and failed state such as Sierra Leone can contribute to the proper administration of justice and support the rule of law. |
