MEDIA AND COMMUNICATIONS INTERN:

The IIJD seeks a Media and Communication Intern to provide assistance in research and writing materials for IIJD’s communications and publications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research, draft, and distribute news releases and other communications to the media and other NGOs.
Generating media attention for Justice and Development issues. Maintain press clips, issue files and media
contact database.
Draft and edit correspondence, issue reports, and funding proposals.
Development of materials to support program sections of IIJD’s web site, including organization profiles and
short news items.
Research data to support publications and web site articles.
Write/edit materials as assigned.
   
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Web or print writing training or experience.
Ability to write and draft basic materials, copy edit following style guide.
Familiarity with internet research tools.
Experience scanning images.
Ability to learn and understand international development, trade, and human rights themes.
   
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Well-organized, articulate, and detail-oriented.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Excellent word processing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Strong research and computer skills, including Lexis-Nexis, HTML and Access.
Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure, manage competing priorities and deadlines, and to complete
tasks with minimal supervision.
1-2 years related work experience.
Commitment to Justice and International Development.
Experience in media or public information office desirable.
Competency in French is a plus.
