IIJD Staff
Staff
The IIJD emphasizes respect for individual employees, healthy interpersonal office relations, and clear communication. The development of good working conditions within the organization is a high priority. The IIJD staff is culturally diverse and members' backgrounds include law, banking and finance, education, marketing, human rights, academic research, and international relations. We encourage our staff to stay on the cutting edge of research, technology, and management by attending regular training sessions. We believe that a dedicated staff of professional consultants with extensive professional experience is the key to success. Trainees range from government officials to small-business owners and community organizers. The IIJD staff members are encouraged to develop both professionally and personally. We expect our employees to be prepared to work with a high level of initiative and to develop goals for personal development. The IIJD’s combined expertise, managerial resources, and commitment to development make us a valuable partner for like-minded organizations.

Elise Avers
Justice Program Associate
Elise Avers joined the IIJD in September of 2007 and serves as a Justice Program Associate. She recently completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and German at Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota. This year she is beginning her Masters degree in Political Science at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. In 2006 she spent eight months in Germany for intensive language study and a semester of graduate and undergraduate courses in German. At Georgetown University she worked with the State Department's "Middle East Partnership Initiative" with students from North Africa and the Middle East.

Elizabeth Copeland

Justice Program Associate
Elizabeth Copeland joined the IIJD in June of 2007 and serves as a Justice Program Associate. She is currently finishing her Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Sociology at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. In the fall of 2005, she was an intern for Representative Carl Sciortino, and she has been the local director for National Student Partnerships in Somerville, Massachusetts since January of 2006.

Michael Durickas

Programs and Intern Coordinator
Michael Durickas joined the IIJD in August of 2006 and has served Justice and Support Program Associate and as the ICSAA conference secretariat.  He is a research assistant of Dr. Ajume Wingo whose writings focus on African political philosophy. Michael graduated summa cum laude from the University of Massachusetts Boston double majoring in Political Science and Philosophy with an International Relations certificate and History minor.  Prior to joining the IIJD, he has served as intern for Senator Steven Tolman and as a Photography TA.  He has also traveled extensively through Europe and Africa.

Karoliina Gröhn

Program Associate, Media Coordinator
Karoliina Grohn joined the IIJD in March of 2007 and is a Justice Program associate and coordinator of the Media Team. She recently completed her Master's in World Missions and Evangelism at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, Massachusetts. In addition, she received her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management from Tampere Polytechnic in Tampere, Finland. She has worked for many environmental conservation organizations as well as volunteered at a children's home in Zimbabwe.  She also serves on the Sub-Saharan Africa Missions Committee at Grace Chapel in Lexington, MA.

Damon Luloff

Programs and Partnerships Coordinator
Damon Luloff joined IIJD in the summer of 2007 as the Programs and Partnerships Coordinator.  He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in English literature at Iowa State University and then got his Master of Education in International Education Development at Boston University in 2007.  He has volunteered for the Peace Corps as a high school english teacher in Guinea and worked for the NGO FORGE in Zambia.  Besides the IIJD, he is also actively involved in The Writers' Express where he is a manager, writing instructor and grant writer. 

Meghan Tinsley

Development and Grant Writing Associate
Meghan Tinsley joined the IIJD in June of 2007 and serves as a Development and Grant Writing Associate.  She recently completed her Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and French at Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts.  In the spring of 2006, she studied at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Aix-en-Provence, France, focusing on decolonization and the Francophone World.
