Staff
The IIJD emphasizes respect for individual employees, healthy interpersonal office relations, and clear communication. The development of good working conditions within the organization is a high priority. The IIJD staff is culturally diverse and members' backgrounds include law, banking and finance, education, marketing, human rights, academic research, and international relations. We encourage our staff to stay on the cutting edge of research, technology, and management by attending regular training sessions. We believe that a dedicated staff of professional consultants with extensive professional experience is the key to success. Trainees range from government officials to small-business owners and community organizers. The IIJD staff members are encouraged to develop both professionally and personally. We expect our employees to be prepared to work with a high level of initiative and to develop goals for personal development. The IIJD’s combined expertise, managerial resources, and commitment to development make us a valuable partner for like-minded organizations.
Volunteers: Praveena Anandraj
Development Program Support Volunteer
Praveena Anandraj joined the IIJD in September 2007 and is a volunteer. She recently completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Affairs at Suffolk University in Boston, Massachusetts. In 2005 she studied abroad at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia, and worked for the Albion Street Centre, gathering information on the political, social and cultural aspects of countries of interest to the center and its projects.
Emily Hemphill
Justice Program Support Volunteer
Emily Hemphill joined the IIJD in July of 2007 and is a volunteer. She received her BA in International Relations from Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts and is currently a currently attending the New England School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts. She spent the summer of 2002 in the Netherlands at the International Institute for Mediation and Conflict Resolution where she studied international courts.
Whitney Huss
Volunteer Newswriter
Whitney Huss joined the IIJD in July of 2007 and is a volunteer. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Performance with a minor in French from the College of Wooster in Wooster, OH and is now a Master's student in the International Education Development program at Boston University. She is currently writing her thesis on Theatre for Development and working for Réseau des Arts Vivants in Niger.
Kathryn Martorana
Volunteer Newswriter
Kathryn Martorana joined the IIJD in June of 2007 as a a Development and Grant Writing Intern and is a Volunteer Newswriter. She recently completed her Bachelor of Arts in International Relations with a concentration in Diplomacy and World Order at the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware. In the winter of 2004, she studied the history of South Africa at the University of Pretoria and in the summer of 2005, she worked in Senator John Kerry's Boston office.
Lorie Miller
Volunteer Newswriter
Lorie Miller joined the IIJD as a Justice Program Support Intern in March of 2007 and is a Volunteer Newswriter. She recently completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies with a minor in French. She has traveled and studied in France and Senegal and now works at the Crittenton Women’s Union in Brighton, Massachusetts.
Lisa Pendleton
Volunteer Newswriter
Lisa Pendleton joined the IIJD in October 2007 and is a Volunteer Newswriter. She recently completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Internation Relations at Boston University. She has studied and lived in Peru in the Summer of 2006. She is currently working as a publicity associate for the American Anti-Slavery Group.
Grace McRae
Washington D.C. Liason
Grace McRae joined the IIJD as a Justice Program Support Intern in June of 2007 and is the Washinton D.C. Liason. She is currently finishing her Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs with a Spanish minor at the Elliot School of International Affairs at George Washington University in Washington D.C. This past spring she was a Capital Hill Intern for Congressman James P. McGovern.
Alyson Trank
New York Liason
Alyson Trank joined the IIJD in January of 2007 and is the New York Liason. She is currently finishing her Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies with a concentration in International Relations, at Emmanuel College in Boston, Massachusetts. This previous summer she served as an intern at the Cabrini Immigrant Services in New York, NY.
Pierre-Marie Meyitang
IT Volunteer
Pierre-Marie Meyitang joined the IIJD in fall 2006 and is an Information Technology (IT) Volunteer. He is currently working on his Bachelor of Science degree in ElectroMechanical Engineering at the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Massachusetts. He was an Assistant Technician in the IT department at Boston College, where he updated computer databases using FileMaker Pro, maintained user accounts and computers throughout the Boston College campus, and resolved individual computer issues.
